The study shows preliminary results supporting the potential use of the PRSMAF. We compare either 23 PRSMAF or 20 PRSAF flaps. We found no statistically significant differences in flap survival or in complication rate.

Traditional management is removal of the implant with a further attempt at reconstruction months later once the infection has settled. This study evaluates an alternative management protocol using negative pressure wound therapy with instillation (NPWTi).Consecutive patients with severe peri-prosthetic infection following breast reconstruction were managed using the Implant Salvage Protocol removal of the prosthesis with application of a NPWTi dressing, changed every 3 days until a negative culture was obtained. A new prosthesis was then placed in the pocket. Data were collected on patient demographics, microbiological, hospital/operative information, and overall success of salvage. Descriptive statistics were used for analysis.
In total, 30 breast prostheses in 28 patients were treated for severe peri-prosthetic infection. Twenty-five (83%) implants were salvaged. Mean time from initial reconstruction surgery to presentation was 49.5 days (median 23, range 7-420). Mean hospital stay was 11.5 days (median 12.0, range 6-22), mean number of returns to the operating theater was 3.7 (median 3.0, range 2-7), and mean number of days to negative culture was 5.2 (median 4.0, range 1-14). The most common organisms were methicillin-sensitive (n = 9) and (n = 4). Most had a tissue expander (n = 24, 80%) or implant (n = 5, 16.7%) placed at the completion of therapy. There was no record of capsular contracture nor recurrent infection during follow-up (mean 39.4 months, range 6-74 months).

It is a syndrome characterized by chronic abdominal pain caused by entrapment of cutaneous branches of thoracoabdominal nerves at the lateral border of the rectus abdominis muscle. If conservative treatment with pain medication, botulinum toxin, or lidocaine injections is inadequate, surgical management is indicated.We present a case of a 40-year-old woman presenting with a 1-year history of daily right anterior abdominal wall pain, consistent with a diagnosis of ACNES. We describe our approach for an anterior neurectomy of the intercostal nerve with closure of its fascial foramen.
Three months after surgery, she remained pain free and was back to work full time. At a 13-month follow-up, the patient reported that her pain had resolved completely following surgery.

The disruption index is a new bibliometric that was recently applied to surgery and urology and identifies papers that shift paradigms and eclipse previous research in a given field.The 100 most-disruptive publications in the 14 most prominent plastic and reconstructive surgery and subspecialty journals were identified.
We present the 100 most-disruptive studies as well as the 100 most-cited studies for comparison in n=14 of the most popular plastic and reconstructive surgery (and subspecialty) journals between 1954 and 2014. The 100 most-disruptive publications in these journals were more disruptive than 99.8% of all PubMed papers. Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (PRS) had the most papers in the top 100 (n=64) followed by British Journal of Plastic Surgery (currently Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive &amp; Aesthetic Surgery, n=15), and Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (n=7). PRS had 9 of the top 10 papers. However, Clinics in Plastic Surgery had the highest average disruption score for all its published papers (0.0029). https://www.selleckchem.com/products/vh298.html The correlation coefficient linking disruption scores and citation counts was 0.01 and 0.11, respectively. The most common decade represented in the top 100 was the 1980's (n=31) and the least common was the 2000's (n=9).

Research in this field is evolving, with recent emphasis on evidence-based surgery optimizing informed consent. This bibliometric analysis aimed to characterize emerging research trends and to assess the methodological quality of the highest impact abdominoplasty research.The 100 most-cited articles in abdominoplasty were identified on Web of Science, across all available journals and years (1950-2019). Study details, including the citation count, main subject, and outcome measures, were extracted from each article by 2 independent reviewers. The level of evidence of each study was also assessed.
The 100 most-cited articles in abdominoplasty were cited by a total of 2545 articles. Citations per article ranged from 206 to 34 (mean 65). Overall, 50 articles were assessed to be level of evidence 3, which is representative of the large number of cohort studies (n = 59) on the list. Similar numbers achieved levels 2, 4, and 5 (n = 16, 20, and 14), though none reached level 1.
